FRIDAY Don't Go to NYC

To prepare the yard for next day Launch there will be no parking south of Clubhouse from 8am to 12 noon. From noon onwards there will be NO PARKING in the yard for crane arrival and set up.

SATURDAY Procedure

  • Parking is at HMCS York – Print and fill out the 2025 Launch Parking Pass and leave it on your dashboard. It must be clearly visible.
  • START TIME – Arrive Saturday, April 26 at 12 noon.
  • CHECK-IN - Go to the Chartroom and check in at the registration desk. Get a hard hat, a label with your name on it goes on the front of the hard hat. Put on your life jacket.
  • LAUNCHING - When it is time for our docks to go in they will call over the loudspeaker "Able Sail". You won't be able to hear because the speaker is difficult to hear and understand. Better to be close by. The slings are attached to a square frame, the left and right side will go under the top dock. 4 people will each hold a corner line. The crane will lift the dock and move it over the water by the seawall, and lower it down. 2 people will jump on the dock and release the slings so that the crane can pull them up and away. 2 of the people holding lines will walk the dock eastwards to free up the spot for the next dock section to go in. The same thing is done for the second segment.
  • CLEANUP - 2 people move the 2x4's by the fence south of the Able Sail trailer, out of the way so nobody trips on them or takes them.
  • WALKING THE DOCKS - The docks are walked to their spot, then tied off on the seawall. Ensure all fenders are by the dock to protect them. Join the two segments with the join rods.
  • BEFORE YOU LEAVE - Go to the Chartroom to sign out, peel off the label and put the hard hat in the box. If you borrowed an Able Sail lifejacket put it in the Able Sail office on the shelf.

IMPORTANT

  • Hard hats must be worn at all times.
  • Be aware of your surroundings – you are working near machinery that will be operating above your head and large objects are being moved. Listen for general instructions and cautions.
  • Lifejackets – Volunteers working at the wall (slingers/pushers) must be wearing lifejackets. Others are strongly encouraged to wear lifejackets if they are working near the water, and please bring your own.
  • Protective and warm clothing is recommended (consider layering, overalls, work gloves, and sturdy boots or safety shoes). It will be windy, so dress for the wind chill - 14 knots gusting to 22 from the North West. Bring water bottle.
