Able Sail Toronto is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of 24 sailing clubs and schools across Canada to receive funding through Sail Canada’s 2026 “Sailing for All” initiative. This national program, supported by Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative, provides financial support to grassroots organizations working to make sailing more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for underrepresented communities.
The 2026 program awarded a total of $80,750 to clubs and schools in six provinces, including seven accessible sailing programs. Able Sail Toronto is honoured to be among the organizations recognized for our commitment to reducing barriers and expanding opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience the freedom and independence of sailing.
Launched in 2023, the Sailing for All initiative focuses on creating low‑ or no‑cost sailing experiences for participants from communities that have historically faced barriers to sport participation, including persons with disabilities, newcomers, seniors, low‑income individuals, and Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities. In its first two years, the program engaged more than 1,900 new participants nationwide.
This funding will directly support Able Sail Toronto’s adaptive sailing programs, equipment, and training, helping us continue to deliver safe, empowering, and community‑centered experiences on Toronto’s waterfront.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sail Canada, Sport Canada, and all the volunteers, athletes, and supporters who make our work possible. Together, we are building a more inclusive sailing community and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to discover the joy of being on the water.
